“Hypnosis is a state of intensified attention and receptiveness to an idea or to a set of ideas”While hypnosis has a colourful reputation, hypnotherapy is in fact a medically recognised technique with a broad range of applications used in hospitals and in clinical psychotherapy and counselling situations.
It has been found to be very effective for:
- pain management, illness and injury recovery, management of medical conditions
- long-lasting or permanent behavioural changes, such as self-esteem, emotional issues, confidence, stage fright, overcoming shyness, etc.
- inducing deep relaxation to alleviate stress, anxiety, and the tension associated with certain activities, including presentations, meetings, and conflict situations
- general health and wellbeing, for instance helping with weight loss and diet, treating smoking and other addictions, insomnia, and improving sports performance.
We use hypnosis routinely in our counselling, therapy and coaching – with your informed advance understanding and agreement. We can also design sessions solely based on hypnotherapy to address any special concern you may have.
We discuss your needs first, design a session, and use your own words and thoughts during the hypnotherapy session to achieve your treatment goals.

Hypnotherapy may still seem mysterious, but it is in fact a proven and medically endorsed form of therapy. You may be surprised to learn that:
- you are in control at all times
- you can come in and out of hypnosis as you decide
- you remain fully awake
- you already experience this state daily
- while deeply relaxing it increases your attention and personal effectiveness
- it is one of the oldest and most beneficial techniques known to promote well-being
- it is a state akin to meditation or imagery
- it is widely used in hospitals and medical practices for illness and pain management in cancer patients, accident trauma, etc.
Hypnotherapy works by producing a distraction of our conscious mind and allowing you direct access to your subconscious, very like what you experience when you daydream or find yourself engrossed in a good book.

Though I embed hypnotherapy techniques within my work, with your knowledge and consent, I also provide pure hypnosis sessions and teach you techniques for use anytime, anywhere, created just for you.
We begin by meeting in person or by phone for 30-40 minutes, with email follow-up. This initial contact is followed by a 40 to 60 minute hypnosis session, during which we record on tape your own words about your specific issue, which you can then download or receive by mail or on disk – uniquely for you.
